WOLFVILLE, N.S. — Acadia used a dominant second half to beat Memorial 52–41 on Saturday afternoon at Stu Aberdeen Court. The Axewomen outscored the Sea-Hawks 31–13 after halftime, turning a seven-point deficit into a third straight win.
Sarah Delorey led Acadia with 11 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Samantha Russell added 10 points, 16 boards and six assists, while Taya Dixon scored 11 with seven rebounds. Emily Nunes-Sabean chipped in seven points and nine rebounds, and Bianca Helmig finished with five steals and four assists.
Memorial led 28–21 at the break, but Acadia seized control with a 19–8 third quarter and closed it out by holding the visitors to five fourth-quarter points. The Axewomen limited the Sea-Hawks to 18.5 per cent shooting from the field and 16.7 per cent from three, and held a 28–14 edge in points in the paint. Final team rebounds were nearly level at 54–52 for Memorial.
Acadia is back on the road Wednesday, Nov. 5, in Antigonish to face StFX at 6 p.m.
