Bio

Ueli Albert joined the Acadia cross country and track & field program in January 2026, bringing a wealth of international experience as both an elite athlete and high-performance coach.

Originally from Switzerland, Albert established himself on the international stage as a Swiss national champion in the 800m and a member of the Swiss national team. His success continued in Canada, where he became one of the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference’s top student-athletes. Albert was a four-time AUS champion and team MVP, while also earning a U SPORTS championship in the 1000m and capturing five national medals during his career. In recognition of his impact beyond competition, he was honoured with the U SPORTS Community Service Award in 2007.

Albert transitioned seamlessly into coaching, building an extensive résumé across both able-bodied and parasport high-performance environments. He served as an event coach with the Canadian Para Athletics Team from 2010 to 2016, supporting athletes at two World Championships and the Paralympic Games. In 2017, he led Team Nova Scotia as head coach at the Canada Games, further demonstrating his ability to guide athletes on the national stage.

Since 2023, Albert has served as head coach of Valley Athletics, where he has developed multiple provincial champions and helped six athletes earn provincial team selection. His coaching philosophy centres on athlete development, performance excellence, and creating a positive, team-first environment.

Albert is excited to be part of the Acadia community and is committed to helping the Axemen and Axewomen compete for AUS championships while achieving success at the U SPORTS level.
