WOLFVILLE, N.S. — The Acadia Axewomen fell 1–0 to the Memorial Sea-Hawks in Atlantic University Sport women's soccer on Friday at Raymond Field.
Memorial scored the winner in the 67th minute. Zoe Rowe finished from Claire Langille to break a scoreless match and secure the points for the visitors. Moments earlier, Rowe had struck the crossbar.
Acadia's best chance came at the end of the first half when Sacha Clark headed off the post. Earlier in the half, Rachel Kibble tested goalkeeper Leana Claude, and Clark forced another save with a header in the 22nd minute. Taylor Kay also had a shot blocked before the interval.
In the second half, Kiersten Samson fired wide from distance in the 57th minute as Acadia pressed for an opener. After Memorial took the lead, the Axewomen introduced Emma Matheson and Jenna Turner in search of an equalizer, but the visitors managed the closing stages well.
Memorial outshot Acadia 10–5 and held a 5–1 advantage in corner kicks. Claude made two saves for the clean sheet. Acadia goalkeeper Milena Ramirez finished with one save on two shots on target. There were no cautions issued; Memorial was whistled for 10 fouls to Acadia's eight.
