WOLFVILLE, N.S. — The Acadia Axewomen earned their second win of the season Sunday, defeating the Mount Allison Mounties 3-0 in Atlantic University Sport women's soccer action at Raymond Field.
Sacha Clark scored twice to lead the Axewomen, opening the scoring in the 11th minute. Clark converted a pass from Riley Bonadie to give Acadia the early lead.
The Axewomen doubled their advantage before halftime when Rachel Kibble struck in the 37th minute. Kibble, who finished with four shots on goal, also set the tone with a series of corner kicks that created scoring chances throughout the match.
Clark sealed the win in the 89th minute, finishing off a setup from Alexa Derrick for her second goal of the game.
In goal, Milena Ramirez stopped all five shots she faced to record the clean sheet.
Acadia outshot Mount Allison 24-10, including 13 attempts on target. The Axewomen also held an 11-3 edge in corner kicks.
The win evened Acadia's record at 2-2-0, while the Mounties dropped to 0-4-0.
The Axewomen are next in action on Friday night at home when they host Moncton. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
