Kennedy signs with Halifax Tides FC for inaugural season

Sydney Kennedy has signed with Halifax Tides FC, bringing her talent and leadership to the club’s inaugural season. A native of Fletcher’s Lake, N.S., she is set to electrify fans at the Wanderers Grounds as she continues her impressive soccer journey at home.

Syd’s signing comes after an exceptional 2023-24 season with the Acadia Axewomen, where she earned U SPORTS All-Canadian honours and was named an AUS First Team All-Star. Her 12-goal campaign placed her third in the AUS and highlighted her offensive brilliance. Her performance also earned her Co-MVP accolades, reflecting her invaluable contribution to the team’s success.

Before her time at Acadia, Syd played at the University of Florida, where she captained the team and won the Florida women’s soccer team Leadership Award in 2023. Her journey also includes international success, having scored six goals with the U15 Canadian National Team en route to a silver medal at the CONCACAF Championship.

In 2024, Syd further demonstrated her skill by dominating the Nova Scotia Women’s Soccer League as its top scorer. Now, she’s ready to bring her experience, goal-scoring ability, and passion for the game to Halifax Tides FC, making her a player to watch as the team kicks off its historic first season.
