B.C. forward Lauren Quinn commits to Axewomen rugby
Team captain and provincial champion strengthens Axewomen pack
The Axewomen rugby program has added leadership and championship experience to its forward group with the commitment of Courtenay, B.C., native Lauren Quinn for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport season.
Quinn, a five-foot-four flanker and No. 8, joins the Axewomen after a successful club, high school and provincial rugby career in British Columbia. She plans to study kinesiology at Acadia.
Quinn developed with Rapids Rugby Club from 2021 to 2025, helping the team capture gold at the B.C. provincial finals. During her time with the program, she earned multiple MVP honours and served as a team captain.
At the high school level, Quinn competed with G.P. Vanier Secondary School, where she continued to establish herself as a leader on and off the field. She captained the team during her senior season and helped guide the program to a B.C. School Sports provincial championship in 2025. She also earned MVP honours throughout her high school career.
Quinn has also gained experience through the provincial system with the B.C. Bears program from 2023 to 2025, competing against top athletes from across the country.
Known for her physical play and strong work ethic, Quinn brings versatility to the forward pack. Her ability to contribute defensively, carry the ball effectively and lead by example has made her a consistent presence throughout her development.
Quinn said the opportunity to join Acadia represents more than just continuing her rugby career.
“Committing to Acadia as a student-athlete means choosing a path of determination, pride, and commitment to showing up at every practice and every class ready to grow and learn,” she said. “To take risks and push myself through challenges that shape not only who I am as an athlete, but as the person I am becoming.”
