Matheos joins Axewomen basketball for 2025
WOLFVILLE — The Acadia Axewomen have added a versatile and athletic presence to their 2024-25 recruiting class with the commitment of Paris Matheos, a 6’0 wing/forward from Hamilton.
Matheos recently wrapped up a successful prep year at Western Reserve Academy in Ohio, where she helped lead the team to a 19-11 record and was named MVP at the She Got Game Classic after scoring 27 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She was a nominee to this year’s CWENCH All-Canadian Games, and was also selected to the prestigious All-Canadian Biosteel showcase, highlighting her among the top high school players in the country.
Head coach Len Harvey said the Axewomen are excited to be adding Matheos to their program.
“We’ve been recruiting Paris for a while now, and had actually been trying to get her here last year prior to her deciding to return to Western Reserve for a final prep year,” said Harvey. “I’m really excited to get to coach her and think her size and toughness, combined with her growing skillset, will help make an immediate impact for the team. Paris has a lot of upside as a player in the league as she’s a physical presence that will fit with the returners, as well as really complement our recruiting class to date. We're looking forward to welcoming her to campus in the fall!”
Matheos, who will study kinesiology at Acadia, said her decision to commit was about more than just basketball.
“Committing to Acadia has been one of the best decisions I have made,” she said. “It is more than just basketball—I’m joining an amazing community with amazing people to help me grow!”
