The Acadia Axemen and Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus played to a 2-2 draw in Atlantic University Sport men's soccer action Friday night at Raymond Field.
Acadia struck first in the 29th minute when Nathan Amoah-Gyekye scored off a pass from Jabu Deng. Four minutes later, Deng doubled the lead with a goal of his own, set up by Anderson Peters, to make it 2-0.
Moncton responded before halftime. Kautchy Emmanuel-Mar scored unassisted in the 41st minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Aigles Bleus pulled even in the 70th minute. Emmanuel-Mar struck again, this time converting a setup from Alex Kazandjian, to level the match at 2-2.
Moncton's Robert Kamano was shown a yellow card in the 70th minute and immediately sent off with a red card, forcing the visitors to finish the match with 10 players.
Despite holding the man advantage, Acadia could not find a winner. The Axemen recorded 11 shots, six on goal, while Moncton managed 17 shots, eight on target.
Goalkeeper Dylan Legere made six saves for Acadia. Moncton's Soan Janssen turned aside four shots.
The draw moved Acadia to 2-1-2 on the season. Moncton improved to 3-0-1.
The Axemen return to action Friday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Moncton for the return matchup. They will then host UPEI on Sunday, Sept. 21, at Raymond Field.
