The Acadia Axemen fell 5-2 to the Dalhousie Tigers in Atlantic University Sport men's soccer action Friday night at Wickwire Field.
Dalhousie struck quickly. Mohammed Tolba scored less than a minute into the match, finishing a pass from Eliia Abu Al-Shamlat.
The Axemen answered in the 18th minute when Toni Adeoye scored unassisted to tie the game 1-1.
Dalhousie restored its lead in the 25th minute. Mohammed Wahdan converted a pass from Tolba to put the Tigers back in front. Just before halftime, Jack Ellis scored in the 41st minute, assisted by Woody Bain, sending Dalhousie into the break with a 3-1 lead.
Acadia pulled one back early in the second half. Aaron John scored in the 51st minute to make it 3-2.
The Tigers responded in the 62nd minute when Bain scored unassisted. Dalhousie sealed the match in the 89th minute as Ben Thompson scored from a setup by Farrell Johnson.
Acadia goalkeeper Dylan Legere faced heavy pressure throughout, making 10 saves on 15 shots. Dalhousie's Sinclair Astridge made one save in the Tigers' net.
The Tigers outshot the Axemen 15-3 and held a 9-0 edge in corner kicks. Acadia was shown two yellow cards in the second half, to Jabu Deng in the 60th minute and Adeoye in the 66th.
With the loss, Acadia dropped to 1-2-1 on the season. Dalhousie improved to 3-0-1.
The Axemen return home to face Mount Allison in their home opener Sept. 7 at Raymond Field.
