Goaltender Keegan Warren commits to Axemen hockey

The Acadia Axemen hockey program has added a championship-winning goaltender with major junior experience with the commitment of Conception Bay South, N.L., native Keegan Warren for the upcoming U SPORTS season.

Warren, a 6'2 left-catching goaltender, joins the Axemen after four seasons split between the Maritime Hockey League and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. He will study business at Acadia.

Warren began his junior career with the Yarmouth Mariners, helping the club capture the Maritime Hockey League championship in 2023 during his rookie season. His strong debut campaign also earned him a place on the MHL Rookie All-Star Team.

Over four seasons with the Mariners, Warren appeared in 84 regular-season games, compiling a 42-32-7 record along with a 3.39 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage. His play and leadership were recognized during the 2025-26 season when he was named the team's Most Valuable Player and Fan Favourite.

Warren also spent parts of the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons with the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL. In 28 regular-season appearances, he posted a 17-6-1 record, a 3.30 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage while gaining valuable experience at the major junior level.

His development also earned recognition beyond league play. In 2024, Warren attended the Boston Bruins rookie development camp, gaining exposure alongside some of the organization's top prospects.

Acadia goaltending coach Dan Turner said Warren's character, work ethic and commitment to improvement stood out immediately.

“When I spoke to Keegan on the phone last year, we clicked right away,” said Turner. “I later had the chance to get on the ice with him a few times and knew he was someone I wanted to work with in the future. His openness to learn and his desire to get better have led to a lot of communication between us since then.

“Keegan is a Newfoundlander who has already gained valuable experience in major junior with Moncton and junior A in Yarmouth, where he was team MVP last season. He was also invited to Boston Bruins development camp two years ago. He is quick on his feet, has a very professional approach to his game and fitness, and is a fantastic person. We are looking forward to seeing him compete at this level, continue to improve and work toward his goal of playing professional hockey.”

Warren said Acadia had long been his destination of choice once he decided to pursue university hockey.

“For me, once I had my sights set on playing AUS hockey, Acadia has been the school I've wanted to commit to,” he said. “With all the great things I've heard about the school, and also the hockey program, it made it a no-brainer that this is where I want to further both my education and my hockey career.

“I am beyond excited to get started on bringing a championship to Acadia.”
