Nova Scotia native Brady Hunter returns home to join Acadia
Former Stonehill and Merrimack forward strengthens Axemen lineup
The Acadia Axemen hockey program has added NCAA Division I experience and leadership to its forward group with the commitment of Enfield, N.S., native Brady Hunter for the upcoming U SPORTS season.
Hunter, a five-foot-eight left-shot forward, returns home to Nova Scotia after three seasons in NCAA Division I hockey. He will study business at Acadia.
Hunter spent the past two seasons at Stonehill College, appearing in 56 regular-season games. During that span, he recorded six goals and 12 assists while establishing himself as a dependable two-way forward in one of the top levels of collegiate hockey.
Before transferring to Stonehill, Hunter played 11 games for Merrimack College during the 2023-24 season, giving him experience with two NCAA Division I programs.
Prior to his collegiate career, Hunter enjoyed a productive three-year run in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Trail Smoke Eaters. From 2020 to 2023, he appeared in 115 regular-season games, collecting 44 goals and 82 assists for 126 points. His combination of offensive production and consistent play earned him opportunities to continue his career at the NCAA Division I level.
Acadia head coach Darren Burns said Hunter's character and complete game make him an outstanding addition to the Axemen lineup.
“Brady has an excellent work ethic and is known to be a tremendous leader,” said Burns. “He plays a strong 200-foot game and doesn’t back down at any time. His positive attitude will be infectious on and off the ice.”
Hunter said the opportunity to return home and represent Acadia is one he appreciates.
“I am extremely grateful and thankful to play for Acadia,” he said. “I am proud to be joining such a great program and team.”
