Moncton edges Acadia 3-2 in tight battle at home
Acadia fell 3–2 to Université de Moncton on Friday night in a close contest at Stu Aberdeen Court. The Axemen scored once on four power-play chances, but Moncton struck twice in the third period to come away with the win. Acadia now turns its attention to January 5, when they return home for their first game after the holiday break.
Tyler Deline opened the scoring with a power-play goal, while Brady Burns recorded two assists and finished +1. Brendan Tomilson added a late goal to pull Acadia within one. Goaltender Thomas Couture made 16 saves on 19 shots.
Acadia controlled much of the opening period, with Liam Kidney winning the first faceoff and the Axemen generating steady pressure. At 15:04, Deline gave Acadia a 1–0 lead on the power play, finishing a setup from Brayden Schmitt and Burns. Moncton had a late power play but failed to convert, sending Acadia into the first intermission with the one-goal advantage.
Moncton tied the game early in the second period on a goal from Yann-Felix Lapointe at 5:52. Acadia earned another power play later in the frame but could not break through, despite quality looks from Kian Bell and Brendan Mairs. Moncton goaltender Olivier Adam stood tall throughout the period, keeping the game at 1–1 heading into the third. Acadia opened the final period on a power play after a late interference penalty to Charles Côté.
The Blue Eagles struck quickly in the third. Jeremy Lapointe scored at 1:31 to give Moncton its first lead of the night, and Jeremie Jacob extended it to 3–1 at 6:00. Acadia pushed in the final minutes, pulling Couture for the extra attacker. Tomilson cut the deficit to one at 18:28, converting a feed from Burns, but Moncton held firm in the dying seconds to secure the win.
Lapointe led Moncton's offense with a goal, while Jacob scored the game-winner and finished +1. Drouin posted a team-high +3 and won 11 faceoffs. In goal, Adam delivered a standout 30-save performance.
Acadia looks to reset and regroup following the break, returning home on January 5.
