Dynamic scorer Jaxon Durando commits to Axemen basketball
Team MVP and Coal Bowl Classic MVP adds offensive versatility
The Acadia Axemen basketball program has added a dynamic offensive presence with the commitment of Jaxon Durando for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport season.
Durando, a versatile guard/forward, joins the Axemen after a standout high school career where he established himself as a consistent scorer and impact player on both ends of the floor.
A strong offensive threat, Durando can score in a variety of ways. He attacks the rim with confidence, finishes through contact, and can step out to knock down perimeter shots. His ability to contribute on the glass adds another dimension to his game, making him a difficult matchup.
His performance has been recognized with multiple honours. Durando earned team MVP and was named MVP of the prestigious Coal Bowl Classic, leading his team to a hard-fought championship victory.
Axemen head coach Mike Leslie said Durando’s skill set and competitiveness will translate well at the U SPORTS level.
“We are pleased to have Jaxon join the Axemen basketball program,” said Leslie. “Jaxon has good size for a guard/forward, he is a very dynamic offensive player who can score multiple ways, and is a strong rebounder.
“He attacks the rim hard, but can also hit perimeter shots making him a difficult player to defend. He was the MVP of his team and MVP of the prestigious Coal Bowl Classic, leading his team to a hard-fought victory in the finals.
“Jaxon is a great all-round person and student-athlete and we look forward to adding him to our roster for the upcoming season.”
Durando said joining Acadia represents an opportunity to continue his development both on and off the court.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to compete at the next level and continue to grow my game,” he said. “Acadia felt like the right fit for me — both as a student and as an athlete — and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team.”
