Olubajo brings size and explosiveness to Acadia offence
Six-foot-three running back led league in rushing yards and touchdowns
The Acadia Axemen football program has added size and explosiveness to its offence with the commitment of Ottawa native Joshua Olubajo for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport season.
Olubajo, a 6'3, 225-pound running back, joins the Axemen after a productive high school and club football career in Ontario. He plans to study psychology at Acadia.
Olubajo most recently competed with the Bel-Air Norsemen Football Club in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA), helping the team finish with a perfect 10-0 record and capture a league championship in 2025. He led the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns while earning team MVP and finals MVP honours.
Earlier in his football career, Olubajo played with the Bell Warriors Football Club, where he earned offensive player of the year honours and was previously recognized with the program’s best running back award. His ability to create big plays and consistently produce offensively made him a key contributor throughout multiple seasons in the NCAFA system.
Olubajo also spent time at St. Thomas More School in Ottawa, continuing his development at the prep school level while competing against strong competition.
He said committing to Acadia is an opportunity he values deeply.
“It means a lot,” said Olubajo. “Coming to a school where the coaches believe in you is a blessing and an opportunity. I am excited to work and face the challenges I have to take on to get to the next level.”
Olubajo added that he is motivated to compete immediately as he begins his university career.
“I am looking to compete and potentially play my first year, no matter what chances I must be ready,” he said.
With his combination of size, athleticism and offensive production, Olubajo adds another physical presence to the Axemen backfield as the program continues to build toward future AUS competition.
