Albert brings size and defensive strength to Acadia
Provincial champion and all-star strengthens defensive unit
The Acadia Axemen football program has added a strong defensive presence with the commitment of Riverview, N.B., native Brock Albert for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport season.
Albert, a six-foot-three, 190-pound defensive back, joins the Axemen after a decorated high school career with Riverview High School. He plans to study business at Acadia.
Albert was a key contributor for the Riverview Royals, helping lead the team to the 2025 SSNB AAAA provincial championship. He also earned SSNB East all-star honours as a defensive back, recognizing his impact on the field.
He built a strong résumé throughout his development. At the U16 level, Albert was named defensive player of the year and helped his team capture multiple city championships while earning provincial silver medals. Earlier, at the U14 level, he also earned defensive player of the year honours and was part of teams that consistently competed for provincial titles.
Albert’s size and athleticism allow him to match up effectively in the secondary. His ability to read the game and make plays in coverage has been a key part of his success.
His former defensive coordinator, Tyler Cameron, said Albert’s impact goes beyond his physical tools.
“I was lucky enough to be Brock’s defensive coordinator for two years at Riverview,” said Cameron. “Brock shows a high intelligence and great work ethic for a young man his age. His physical ability to play at a high level is obvious when you watch him on tape. He’s tough, physical, fast, tall.
“Where he is different from his peers is when we are in meetings Brock is always in the front of the room, asking good questions, and takes coaching points well. He’s someone that is quiet by nature, but is a leader by his work ethic and intelligence on the field and in meetings.”
Albert’s addition strengthens the Axemen secondary as the program continues to build depth and competition heading into future AUS seasons.
