The Athletic Therapy staff is guided by Dr. James MacLeod, Head Athletic Therapist in Varsity Athletic as well as a Professor within the School of Recreation Management and Kinesiology (SRMK). In both locations he is assisted by Mr. Colin King, Certified Athletic Therapist and a sessional a professor in SRMK.  Known as "Jim" by our student athletes, Dr. MacLeod is a certified member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists' Association (as well as being in its Hall of Fame). For the 2010-2011 academic year, he was assigned the duties as Interim Director of Athletics.

Jim leads a dedicated group of Acadia senior SRMK students who hope to enter the field of Athletic Therapy or other health care program.  Each student who enters this stream of the Kinesiology program will spend their last 2 of a 4 year program assigned to one or several teams as a Student Athletic Therapy Assistant.

Dr. MacLeod and student therapists assesses injuries and conditions, utilizes contemporary rehabilitative techniques, therapeutic modalities, soft tissue mobilization, physical reconditioning, and supportive strapping procedures to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing in preparing the individual for safe reintegration into their respective sport.*

Dr. MacLeod, Acadia Student Therapists, team physicians and the staff of the Acadia Sports Therapy Clinic are an integral part of a total services provided at Acadia to maximize the performance and welfare of the individual athlete.*
